TEDDY Jack George Brind was the first person to be born in Chippenham this year.

He was born to parents Alice and Cole at 6.50am on New Year’s Day.

Teddy was due on New Year’s Eve but arrived the following day in Chippenham Community Hospital after a labour lasting just three hours, weighing 8lbs 6.5 oz.

He is the third child of the Brinds, who live in Christian Malford, after Tommy, five, and Poppy, four. Mr Brind, 29, who has a building business, also has a six-year-old daughter Summer.

Mrs Brind, 27, said it was her first water birth and she found the water had helped with the pain. The name Teddy was chosen by their children.

Mrs Brind, who works in customer service at Currys, said: “Tommy came up with it months ago after Poppy’s bear and we called him that ever since. Bear goes everywhere.

“Last New Year’s Eve we had a house party but this year I was in bed at 10.30pm. I was back home the same day, so I got home in time for the roast.”
