SANDY Osborough gave his new drone a test flight around the monument to Maud Heath at Bremhill and came up with stunning views which few will have seen before.

The monument, on Wick Hill, near Bremhill, was put up in 1838 to the 15th century land owner, who was concerned that Bremhill, Foxham, Tytherton and Langley Burrell villagers were having difficulty getting to the market in Chippenham because of marshes around the River Avon.

When she died, in 1474, she provided a trust with the money for a 4.5 mile cobble causeway to be built from Bremhill to Chippenham which was improved by the trust in 1811 when the part of the causeway that crossed the River Avon was updated to include a bridge made up of 64 brick arches which can still be seen today.

Mr Osborough said: "I’ve got to say, for a sculpture done in 1838 it’s weathering very well, although from the front the two oak trees are nearly obscuring her – in a few years she’ll have no view at all."
