STAR Wars and Game of Thrones actor Julian Glover OBE and a host of other stars will be in Chippenham on Saturday (Oct 24) for the town’s Sci-Fi day.

The annual event is hoping to bring thousands of people into the town centre and the Neeld Community and Arts centre throughout the day.

Mr Glover is famous for his roles as General Maximilian Veers in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and James Bond villain Aristotle Kristatos in For Your Eyes Only.

More recently, he has played the reoccurring role of Grand Maester Pycelle in HBO's Game of Thrones.

Alongside Mr Glover, organisers have also secured appearances from Red Dwarf comedian Hattie Hayridge, Doctor Who’s first female assistant Anneke Wills and Game of Thrones actresses Pixie le Knot and Josephine Gillan.

The Red Dwarf actress played Holly in the hit TV series while Anneke Wills will be remembered by many as Polly, assistant to the Doctor played by William Hartnell and then Patrick Troughton during the 1960s.

Organiser Anthony Milner said: “Our event brings in well over 2,000 people and provides a real buzz in town centre.

“Last year’s event was a huge success and we took over the Town Centre and Neeld Hall and made it a brilliant family fun day.

“This year's event is going to be even bigger and better and thanks to our main sponsor, Emery Gate Shopping Centre we have some extra treats for the family.”

The event is once again likely to spread well beyond the Neeld Hall with 10m high Ghost Busters in the Emery Gate, Sci-Fi and Disney Cars and Transformers placed throughout the town centre.

Organisers are expecting over 60 Cosplay characters to be present and also have a HBO TV-approved Games of Thrones Throen, Terminator and Alien Display plus Daleks and Star Wars Droids.

There’s even the chance for young and old to learn some Jedi moves in the Jedi Fight Academy which is being run by Liam Neeson’s Star Wars stuntman Andrew Lawden.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to three charities; the Royal British Legion, Great Ormond Street Children s Hospital and Wiltshire Mind.

Entry prices to Chippenham Sci-Fi are £4 for adults and £3 for children.
