Knifeman hands himself in

KNIFEMAN Stephen Edwards, who escaped during an escorted day out of prison, has handed himself in.

Edwards, who was jailed seven years ago for stabbing his sister-in-law and holding his wife hostage, handed himself in at a police station in Cardiff.

The 44-year-old was sent to HMP Risley in Cheshire after an armed siege in Woodlands Road, Chippenham, on carnival night in 2001 when he stabbed Julie Tuck 31 times and allegedly threatened to kill police officers.

Edwards escaped during an escorted visit to Manchester city centre more than two weeks ago, sparking searches across the UK.

He has been taken back to HMP Risley.
