CHILDREN’S author Sarah Singleton has been shortlisted for the Manchester Book Award 2009 following the success of her latest novel The Amethyst Child.
Published by Simon & Schuster The Amethyst Child is one of six books selected from a list of 24 and the winner will be announced at the City of Manchester Stadium in March.
The 42-year-old author, who lives in the Patterdown area of Chippenham, said: “I am delighted The Amethyst Child has been shortlisted for the award, I very much enjoyed writing it.
“The story is set in Chippenham and though the town is never named, local people would certainly recognise the place.”
Other shortlisted books include J.A Henderson’s novel Crash and Ways to Live Forever by Sally Nicholls.
This is the fourth year of the awards and it will be young readers who chose the winner by casting their votes for their favourite.
