A CHIPPENHAM auction house will be selling its first lot of the year in the form of Second World War RAF maps on January 3.
The Wessex Auction Rooms at Westbrook Farm will be selling the three maps, one of which dates back to 1932, each showing safe flight courses for the allies and the various bases in the area.
One is of the south west of England, with aerial views of Chippenham, Stow on the Wold and other West Country towns and the others are of the Midlands and Northern Scotland.
Jocelyn Creed, salesroom manager, said: “War memorabilia is very popular with many of our clients.
“Collectors from all over the country can look at our catalogue online, as with many salerooms and can therefore keep an eye out for things related to the war.
It was one of Britain’s finest hours and we hope we can find a good buyer for this.”
The guide price for the lot is between £40 and £60.
Also included in the auction will be pieces signed by the BBC Antiques Roadshow’s porcelain expert, Henry Sandon, including a belle vase and a charger.
For more information call the auction rooms on 01249 720888.
