LACOCK Abbey played host to a double concert at the weekend attracting thousands of visitors.
On Saturday more than 4,000 classic music lovers flocked to the Proms, while on Sunday an estimated crowd of 4,600 turned out to see Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra.
Rain clouds held off on Saturday night, as thousands brought along picnics and flags for an evening of classical music, performed by the 70-piece London Gala Orchestra, violinist Petronella Dittmer and soprano Alison Buchanan.
Richard Porter, 27, of Bowerhill, was among the revellers. He said: "The weather was a bit windy but at least no one got soaked. I think the coffee stall did a roaring trade as people didn't think it would be so chilly.
"Lacock Abbey was lit up by lights during some of the songs. During Rule Britannia it was red, white and blue and people were waving their flags and singing along. "It was a great atmosphere and the organisation was well thought out."
On Sunday one of the UK's top musicians, Jools Holland, made his first visit to Lacock, accompanied by guest soloists Sam Brown and Ruby Turner. Mark Harrison, spokesman for concert organisers Easternbreeze, said the venue was a hit with performers and visitors.
Jools' concert struck a special chord with one party from Corsham, who were helping birthday boy Mark Heyward celebrate his 40th in style. Mr Heyward said: "What a great way to celebrate your 40th birthday - good company, good food, good wine and great music."
