Police in Corsham have released images of two men they want to speak to following an attack on Corsham’s lion statue in the Martingate Centre.
The damage to the lion, which was vandalised on the evening of Friday, October 27, was discovered by Sue Witt, of The Toy Box shop. It suffered minor damage, but its stone base was heavily cracked and is being repaired by Rudloe Stone.
PCSO Shaun Redmond said: “We are very keen to find those who damaged the lion, as it is a big part of the town and well liked by Corsham’s children.”
Over the summer, a competition to give the lion a makeover attracted 635 entries. The winning design was created by Toni Sutton, aged eight.
Witnesses can contact Wiltshire Police on 101.
