Children, staff and parents at Lacock Primary School have welcomed their new headteacher Mr Richard Hearn to the school.

Mr Hearn, previously deputy head at Moorlands Schools Federation in Bath, said: "I am delighted to be working here at Lacock. The tremendous sense of the school being at the centre of the community is something to be celebrated and developed.

“The staff and children have been amazing in the warmth of their welcome and I am looking forward to working with everyone involved to make the school a place of excellence in everything we do".

Johnny Wrench, chairman of governors said: "Richard was the outstanding candidate of choice possessing that rare blend of capability, compassion and drive that is essential for taking our great school forward."

With a busy term planned, including school trips to Warwick Castle and Salisbury Cathedral, Mr Hearn is looking forward to seeing all the children develop as learners and become confident young people, ready to take on a challenge and achieve their best.

The Friends of Lacock School were also very pleased to welcome Richard with the arrival of 300 new books for the school library.

The FLS raises money throughout the year, including the famous Lacock Scarecrow Trail.  Money raised is used to pay for many school projects which have included as school trip to The Lion King in London, new science equipment, remodelling of the junior playground and an improved library area.
