Members of the Corsham Windband were out in force on Saturday, at an open day aiming to recruit new members.

Players from each of the group’s three bands were at Corsham’s Pound Arts Centre for an open session, to encourage more young people to pick up an instrument.

Martin Edmunson, chairman of the Corsham Windband Association, said: “It went very well, we were very busy.

“We have got around eight new definite recruits and there were quite a few people who had a look and went away to think about it.”

The band has its own collection of brass instruments, which it rents out to members and which were on display for volunteers to try out.

“We had small children right up to teenagers come along who had never played an instrument before.

The group has more than 100 members from across the county spread across the three bands, who meet every Saturday morning at The Pound.
