A 69-year-old man who admitted assault and criminal damage has been banned from entering the High Street in Corsham.
David Johnson had also been accused of threats to kill in an incident on Monday, February 24.
But after he pleaded guilty to the two other matters prosecutors said they would not seek a trial on the third charge.
Colin Meeke, for the Crown, told Swindon Crown Court on Friday: "It is accepted that words were uttered but without perhaps the full intention of meaning."
Johnson, of Penleigh Close, Corsham, pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm and criminal damage.
He admitted assaulting Gerald Albert Smith and damaging furnishings and a wall belonging to Ian Buchanan White.
Judge Douglas Field adjourned the case to Friday, April 25, give the probation service time to compile a pre-sentence report.
He released him on bail on condition he does not have contact with either Mr White or Mr Smith or go to the High Street.
