Corsham Gardeners Society’s annual show on August Bank Holiday was held in the new Corsham Community Campus and there were over 600 entries.

The judges were impressed by the continuing high standards of entries. Over 300 people came to see the show despite the very wet weather. The committee are very grateful to all the helpers and supporters who made the show a success.

There was a full house for the September meeting; the speaker was John Tucker of Prior Park Garden Centre who is always a popular speaker. His talk was on Shrubs and Plants for the smaller garden and he had brought along a large collection of plants to illustrate the talk. John had brought some the dwarf varieties of many well known shrubs, buddleia, rosemary, plumbago, philidelpus, cystus, bush honeysuckle to name a few and a selection of ornamental grasses..

The Table Competition for any misshaped veg: Carole Lewis 6, Maureen Cundict 7, Rodney Cundict 9. Any Homemade item: Rodney Cundict 7 Jennie Maggs 7, Carole Lewis 7 Susan Tasker 8, Julia Rowell 8, Barrie Tasker 8, Maureen Cundict 8, Sandy Hyde 9, Muriel Hudd 9 .

We also enjoyed a coach trip to Wisley Gardens and Autumn Show in September. The flower borders were aglow with colour and the roses were still showing well, this coupled with the orchards and Autumn Show made for an excellent day.

The October meeting will host the annual quiz with four or five other local garden societies competing.

There will also be a skittles evening on October 31 at Chippenham Sports Club.
