THE former police station in Priory Street, Corsham, is going to be demolished and turned into ten three-bedroom homes with parking.

Planning permission was granted last week after BBA Architects submitted the application on behalf of Devizes based company Princeton Homes Ltd in November.

Corsham Town Council objected to the application at its planning meeting in November and eight letters of rejection were also submitted to Wiltshire Council.

The main concerns raised were increased traffic and parking problems, the development would be too imposing and the public consultation was inadequate.

Ruth Hopkinson, who chairs Corsham Town Council, said: “We absolutely support the development of the area. Our main reservation about the development was the density and styling.

“Unfortunately there’s nothing much we can do about it. We will work with developers about the concerns expressed by residents, especially during the building, to ensure there is little disruption.”
