Fire crew cuts driver from car

THE A4 Chequers Hill between Corsham and Chippenham has now reopened following a crash this afternoon.

A Vauxhall Corsa and a Citroen C3 collided at around 2.30pm and the Citroen driver was trapped in the wreckage.

Both drivers were removed from their cars on spinal boards and taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath, although their conditions are not believed to be critical.

Firefighters came from Corsham and Chippenham and had to cut the roof off the Citroen to free its driver.

The road was blocked and local diversions put in place.
