THE family of Harley Barnes, aged four, who died after being found unconscious in a pond in Gastard, near Corsham, have paid tribute to him.

Wiltshire Police were called to a property in the village on Tuesday, July 28, following a call from the ambulance service.

Harley was taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath where he could not be resuscitated.

Formal identification has now taken place and an inquest has been opened and adjourned.

A picture of Harley with his parents, Andrew Barnes and Hannah Vaughan, and their two dogs Lenny and Trev, was released today for the family by Wiltshire Police.

His family said: "The Vaughan and Barnes families are absolutely devastated by the sudden loss of their beautiful son, grandson, nephew and cousin, Harley Barnes.

"We would like to thank everybody for their love and support over the last week.

"We would also like to ask people to respect our privacy at this very difficult time."

Police previously said there did not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
