YOUNG Corsham dancers got a once-in-a-lifetime chance to perform at Disneyland Paris over Bank Holiday Weekend.

A group of 19 dancers, aged 11-20, from the Samantha Jones Dance Academy, took to the stage to perform five dance numbers to a mass audience. Their chosen theme was Divas, so the group treated audiences to dances influenced by Beyoncé, Whitney, and Christina Aguilera.

Samantha Jones said, “They’ve really knuckled down and their technique is coming along really well. I’m very proud of them.”

“This competition gives them a chance to dance in a professional environment on stage. It will be a good experience for them as some of the girls want to go into dancing professionally.”

The Samantha Jones Dance Academy was set up six years ago by Mrs Jones, and holds classes at Corsham Regis Primary School.

The dance troupe have previously performed in festivals and dance shows, but had never done anything on this scale. They have a very busy six months coming up too, including performing at the Corsham Christmas lights switch-on on December 1.

Mrs Jones was delighted that the girls have been given the opportunity to perform at Disneyland Paris, saying, “That’s all I want for them, just a little bit of recognition. They deserve it.”
