PLANS for the redevelopment of Corsham Media Park have been submitted to North Wiltshire District Council.
An exhibition hosted by Kenmore Property Group, the development managers for Spring Park Ltd, was held in October inviting residents to see the initial plans for the 30 acres of land.
If the plans go ahead the redevelopment could see the creation of up to 1,500 jobs in the area, with half the site becoming offices and the other half being used for data centres.
The land in West Wells Road, opposite the entrance to Basil Hill Barracks, is currently used as a media studio and equipment centre.
The new scheme includes both office space and data centres for use by organisations such as banks and government agencies, which need to store highly secure information in a safe location.
A spokesman for the developers at the time of the public exhibition said the plans would be led by the heritage and history of the site.
He said: "It comes fairly close on the back of the Basil Hill application and the two are intrinsically linked. Only half of it will be employment-based, which will calm fears about increased traffic."
Representatives from Kenmore were at the exhibition to answer questions about the plans.
The site, formerly known as Spring Quarry, was used as Ministry of Defence stores until its closure in 1995, and has been re-named Spring Park.
The MoD currently occupies a two-storey building on the eastern edge of the site.
