Thieves steal sandwich van

THIEVES who broke into a Corsham sandwich delivery shop and stole several sets of car keys took the most distinctive vehicle in the firm's car park.

A van with the company's name on the side was taken from Munchies, on the Park Lane trading estate, on Saturday night.

Company secretary Bob Gooderson said: "It says Munchies on the side in yellow writing with a red background.

"We spent most of Sunday looking for the other sets of car keys in our neighbour's garden.

"All the other vehicles were parked outside too, but it was only the one with Munchies written along the side that was taken. Who knows why?"

Mr Gooderson said the thieves broke into the building by forcing open a door.

He said: "There is no damage inside the building and there wasn't any damage done to the inside.

"All the keys were hanging neatly on the wall."

The missing van is a Citroen Berlingo 4x4 which was used on sandwich delivery rounds.

Sergeant Steve Cox, of Chippenham police, said: "This is a very distinctive vehicle and will look out of place whether it is parked or being driven.

"The shape and style is solely for the carriage of food products and selling from the vehicle.

"If anybody has seen a vehicle matching this description, with or without Munchies written on it we would like to hear from them."

Christopher James Printers, which is next door to Munchies, were also broken into and staff arrived on Monday morning to find the door so badly damaged they could not get in.

Director Steve Iles said: "They wrenched the door open, and twisted the metal so badly we couldn't open it.

"They did get in and stole some petty cash, but they shut the door behind them afterwards.

"We don't know how much money was taken."

Anyone with any information about either of the break-ins should call Chippenham police on 0845 408 7000.
