5:55pm Wednesday 20th February 2008 in Corsham By Katie Adams
A DEER which became stuck in the front gate of a home in Corsham had to be freed by firefighters.
The animal got its head stuck between the rungs of a gate in Bences Lane at around 8am on Wednesday.
One appliance from Corsham Fire Station was called to the scene by worried residents.
Firefighters were able to cut the deer free from the gate using power tools.
Watch manager Mark Unwin said they left the animal with residents after calling a vet out.
He said: "We had to remove the gate after we had cut through it.
"We left the deer with a family for the vet to arrive. It had a few cuts and bruises on its neck.
"It took a few minutes to free it."
