A HOUSE fire in Corsham left a homeowner concerned about the safety of her pets.
The kitchen fire, in Cornwall House, Kings Avenue, started at about 10pm on Friday after the woman left her stove on and popped to a neighbour's house.
She was alerted to the blaze when her smoke alarm went off.
Two fire appliances from Corsham were called to the scene.
Two kittens and dogs trapped inside were unharmed.
Watch leader at Corsham fire station, Mark Unwin, said: "Because the smoke alarm went off and was doing its job properly, the flat was saved from serious damage. As it was, the severity of the blaze was limited to a burnt cooker."
