Campus project goes out on tour

Board chairman Allan Bosley Board chairman Allan Bosley

A public exhibition of designs for Corsham’s campus project will travel around the town and surrounding area next week.

Visitors will be able to express their views on proposals for the community campus, Springfield, which would be built in Beech-field Road.

The campus will house a new library, meeting rooms and a cafe bar, as well as many other facilities which will be available for public use.

A Wiltshire Council bus will be out on tour between Monday and Friday, visiting the places where those most likely to use the campus live.

The chairman of the Corsham Shadow Community Operations Board, Corsham town councillor Allan Bosley, said: “We want this roadshow to capture the thoughts of as many people as possible.

“This is why we’ve pushed to get the bus to visit as many places as we could. There’s already been an extraordinary amount of interest from the people of Corsham and we want everyone to have a chance to come and consider the designs.”

On Monday, between 9.30am and 12.30pm, the bus will stop in High Street, Lacock, opposite the Red Lion. Next it will travel to Biddestone Village Hall, in Yatton Road, where it will stay from 2pm until 4.30pm.

On Tuesday, the plans will be on display in the Newlands Road car park, Corsham, from 9.30am until 1.30pm, before moving to Springfield Leisure Centre from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

The roadshow will travel to Box on Wednesday, with the bus stopping in the Village Hall car park, in Valens Terrace, from 9.30am until 12.30pm. Plans will be on show again in the afternoon, from 2pm until 4pm.

The bus will be back in Corsham’s Newlands Road car park between 5pm and 7pm.

On Thursday, the bus will be at Colerne Village Hall from 9.30am until 12.30pm and again from 2pm until 4pm, before returning to Newlands Road car park between 5pm and 7pm.

Finally, on Friday, the bus will head to Sainsbury’s car park, in Chippenham, from 9.30am to 12.30pm, with plans on display from 2pm until 4.30pm.

Cllr Bosley said that the building of the campus was expected to start in the summer, with work due for completion by early 2014.

He added: “The campus is going to be a very impressive part of Corsham.

“The fabric of the plans are in place and we are just waiting to take our next step after the public exhibition.”

To mark the roadshow a website, www.springfieldccc.com, will go live later this week.

It will provide more information about Corsham’s campus project.
