Corsham employee cut free after ladder fall

A 50-year-old man was taken to hospital yesterday after falling from a ladder in Corsham.

The man landed with his arm tangled in the ladder, and had to be cut out by fire crews.

A 999 call was received by Great Western Ambulance Service at 11.39am yesterday, with an ambulance arriving on the scene at Guarantee Linen, Leafield Industrial Estate, Corsham at 11.47am.

A rapid response medic was also taken to the scene by Wiltshire Air Ambulance, to provide emergency pain relief to the man, an employee of the firm.

A fire crew from Corsham was called when it became clear the man was suffering a suspected dislocated elbow and was entagled with the ladder, as well as severe facial injuries.

Fire officers used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the man from the ladder, and he was swiftly taken to Royal United Hospital in Bath by ambulance.
