Members of Melksham’s Beavers and Scouts troop this week delivered more than 1,000 Christmas cards around the town.
The Scouts had set up their own festive postal service, with special post boxes put up in the Town Hall, Tourist Information Centre, and other shops around town. Stamps were available for cards for the Melksham and Bowerhill areas, with all proceeds going to the Scout hut fund.
The last post was on Saturday, and all the cards were taken to the Scout hut to be sorted on Sunday.
More than 1,500 cards were posted in total, with around 40 Beavers, Scouts and their friends and families giving up their time to sort the mail.
The cards were then delivered around the town by teams of eager volunteers.
The Scouts also delivered cards for the Mayor of Melksham, as well as some from Duncan Hames, MP for Chippenham.
