The Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire visited young persons’ charity Amber Foundation at its Trowbridge base to find out about the work on Tuesday.
Sarah Troughton visited the Bythesea Road centre, meeting the foundation’s chief executive Charles Drew and those who the charity supports.
Mr Drew said: “Amber works on the principle that if young people have no goals and ambition then they will drift. By having a realistic dream and desire, young people focus on what they need to do to achieve it. We were delighted that the Lord Lieutenant saw at first hand how and why the process works.”
Mrs Troughton spoke with many of the people who live at the centre and heard of their plans for the future. She said: “I was impressed by the safe, practical home Amber provides for young people in Trowbridge and it was a pleasure meeting some of the young people there.
“I enjoyed seeing how they are researching the skills needed for their future job ambitions.”
