A hi-tech Melksham company has been recognised in the first Enterprising Wiltshire Awards.

Generative Parametrics, of Kingsbury House, won in the innovation category.

Founded in Potterne in 2009, the firm now employs three people and designs components and products for firms across the South West. Managing director Alex Groffman said: “What significantly sets Generative Para-metrics apart from other design companies are our unique design methodologies.

“We are pioneering a completely innovative and intelligent way of using our CAD software, which goes against the current conventional modelling techniques.

“We build the ‘DNA’ of a specific product into design models, so that it can be re-deployed into future products, speeding up the design process, whilst saving customers time and expenditure.”

The firm has recently begun working with Warwick University on the development of a new computer-aided design model.

It has also partnered Bath-based Cycles Maximus to revise its electric trikes, which featured in the closing ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games.
