Puplils at Christ Church Primary School were the stars of the show when ITV’s breakfast show Good Morning Britain came to the Bradford on Avon school on Monday.

The film crew interviewed headteacher Neil Baker, the staff, parents and pupils, including sports ambassadors, about their views on sports day and competition.

Christ Church has two sports days: a competitive one held on Monday, which consists of a track race, and a non- competitive one today which focuses on house achievements.

Mr Baker said: “The crew talked to me about why we do competitive sports. Our feeling is that if you have the right atmosphere you can have competition without hurting people. I think that is quite important.

“We run it as a competitive element because that’s what sport is. It is not cut throat but it gives the opportunity for people to shine. Children have to shine at something.”
