A family in Melksham are celebrating five generations of girls after the arrival of baby Gracie.

Great-great-grandmother to nine-week-old Gracie, Ennis Green, 96, is delighted that the family has expanded and she can pass on all her wisdom.

Jan Hillier, Gracie’s great-grandmother and Mrs Green’s daughter, said: “If there’s anything I want my mum to pass on to Gracie, it is her sense of her humour, she is always happy.

“It’s just wonderful, we are a very close family and we are all so delighted”.

Mrs Green moved to Melksham to marry her late husband Leslie and worked as an assistant cook at Lowbourne School, cooking food for the surrounding area.

She later had a career working in the admiral team for the MOD in Corsham.

Mrs Hillier, 73, who used to be an auxiliary nurse for the district nurses in Chippenham, added: “It’s a wonderful experience, five generations doesn’t happen very often.

“To see the different generations is wonderful and not very common”.

Sue Ballinger, 49, who is Gracie’s grandmother and a dental nurse in Bradford on Avon, is also thrilled to have another girl in the family, she said: “We were all convinced Gracie was going to be a boy but it was a wonderful surprise.

“We are bowled over with her, she’s gorgeous and to have Granny still around is fabulous.

“Granddad died 15 years ago so and Granny still lives on her own and she’s done so well.”

Mum to Gracie, Sophie Ballinger, 22 lives in Rowde with Gracie’s dad Dean House and is currently on maternity leave from her job at a call centre in Bath.
