Wiltshire Police have thanked local people for their response to the Melksham crash in which teenager Max Lewis died.

Max, 19, from Melksham, died in the collision shortly before 3pm on Saturday 15th November 2014 on Forest Lane when a red Citroen Saxo he was travelling in collided with a white Renault Master van.

Dan Palmer, 22, the driver of the Saxo, who is also from Melksham, was taken by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital.

Wiltshire Police have been appealing to the public for help in identifying the drivers of two cars - one silver, the other blue - that are believed to have been travelling towards Melksham with the Saxo immediately before the collision.

Sergeant Barrie Card said: "I would personally like to thank the local community for their response to Saturday's tragic road traffic collision.

"We have had a considerable amount of information from the public in relation to the identity of the drivers of the two cars. As a result, we are now following a number of lines of enquiry.

"It is still crucial that anyone who has any information about the two cars or the collision itself contacts us as soon as possible to assist us with our ongoing enquiries.

"Anyone with information should call Wiltshire Police via 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously."

Dan's step-mother posted online that he is suffering a bad chest infection and has been put in an induced coma but fears that he had a pulmonary embolism are unfounded.
