HUNDREDS of mourners are expected to attend the funeral today of 19-year-old car crash victim Max Lewis.

The teenager, from Baldham, Seend, died when the car he was a passenger in collided with a white Renault Master van coming in the opposite direction in Forest Lane, Melksham on November 15 just before 3pm.

Max’s best friend and driver of the Citroen Saxo, Dan Palmer, 22, of Bowmans Court, Melksham, sustained serious injuries in the accident. He has now returned home after spending two weeks in hospital.

The service will be at St Michael’s Church, Melksham, at noon, followed by burial at Holy Cross Church, Seend.

In a statement his family said: “We welcome family and close friends to join us for the burial ceremony, although please be aware that space may be a little limited.

“Max was a beautiful young man who loved his clothes, so please feel free to join in with a sense of style (if you can!). If you would like to bring a single flower to add to family flowers that would be lovely.”

His family are also asking for donations in his name to be made to Bath Cats and Dogs Home and Save the Children. Many of Max’s friend will be wearing pink polka dot dressing gowns in his memory.
