Camels will be making their way through Melksham as part of a living nativity next Sunday.

The procession will begin at Melksham Town Hall at 5pm and will be led by Joseph, Mary and Eros the donkey as they make their way to Brookside Care Home, in Ruskin Avenue.

Therese and Temujin, the two camels, will be ridden by the three wise men, one of whom will be Chippenham MP Duncan Hames.

There will also be a children’s lantern parade, the Calne Silver Band and a choir will sing Christmas carols, and there will be a short church service.

The procession will be collecting money for Dementia UK.

Lyn Rendell, from Brookside Residential Care Home, in Melksham, said: “We want this event to be for the whole of the surrounding area to enjoy. The procession should take about 40 minutes and everyone is invited to join us.

“Come dressed in character, the more shepherds, angels and citizens of Bethlehem the better, but if you don’t want to dress up please do just join us, the more the merrier.

“If anyone would like to help out behind the scenes that would also be most appreciated.”
