The first Melksham 55+ Seniors Forum activity day, run with local organisations, was held on Monday at Forest Community Centre.

More than 40 people enjoyed indoor curling, carpet bowls, joined in a singalong and got advice on using smart phones, iPads and other tablets.

Chairman Brian Warwick said: “We want older people who may be marginalised and isolated to become active citizens taking part in their local community and most of all, having fun.

“Our joint philosophy is that people 55+ have a right to rich and fulfilling life experiences and have an active place in society.”

The next event will take place at the Forest Community Hall on February 2.
