ALOERIC Primary School in Melksham has been awarded a ‘good’ rating after its Ofsted inspection, a step up from its previous ‘satisfactory’ rating.
The school was visited on January 21 and 22 and 15 classes were observed.
The report praises headteacher Matthew Nightingale’s committed and determined leadership. It also says parents are supportive and positive about the school and the quality of teaching was constantly good.
Pupils’ behaviour is good and attitudes to learning are encouraging. Suggested improvements are to raise pupils’ achievements in writing and, in particular, in maths.
The report added: “The school’s position has strengthened considerably since the previous inspection as a result of the committed and determined leadership of the headteacher, with good support by the two assistant headteachers, other leaders and the governing body.”
