RESIDENTS in Melksham who go the extra mile for the town have been recognised at an award ceremony at the annual Mayor’s reception.
Mayor Terri Welch handed out the community service awards last Friday at the Assembly Hall to Nick Galpin for his dedication in organising events for the elderly; Doreen Drew who has been secretary for 17 years of the transport service Melksham and District Link; couple Brian and Jean Evans for the support and time they give local football teams and Tanya and Paul Elling for playing an important role in fundraising for the Melksham Guides.
The Enhancing Melksham Awards went to Graham Fryer for his help in creating the Longford Road Christmas light display and Lisa Ellis for her commitment to creating a family tree of Melksham project that she has been working on.
Cameron Gerrish from Melksham’s 2385 Air Training Corps squadron was named Mayor’s Cadet for 2015.
