A man has died after being struck by a train on the tracks in Beanacre, Melksham.
The incident happened near Westlands Lane on Saturday and was reported to police just before 5.30am.
Police, South Western Ambulance Service and the British Transport Police all attended.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Officers were called to the line close to the bridge at Westlands Lane, Melksham, Wiltshire, after a report of man being hit by a train.
“Officers along with colleagues from Wiltshire Police attended the incident, which was reported to police at 5.25am.
“Paramedics from the South Western Ambulance Service also attended the incident but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
