BRAND new retirement apartments could be coming to Spa Road in Melksham and a public exhibition will be going on display for residents to see the plans.

Developers McCarthy & Stone are hoping to build 30 apartments with 24 parking spaces and are going to discuss their proposal at Melksham Town Hall on Wednesday, April 22, from 3-7pm.

They want to develop the piece of land, which Withleigh House currently sits on, and are organising the exhibition so locals can provide feedback to the project team.

Shane Paull of McCarthy & Stone said: "We have spent time carefully researching the architecture and character of Melksham to ensure what we are proposing is a sensitive fit to the town and its number of historical buildings, while at the same time introducing a specialist form of housing to help meet an identified and growing need in the area.

"We want to hear from the local community before we submit a planning application and will be displaying our plans at the exhibition."

Residents not able to attend the public exhibition can call the developers dedicated freephone number on 0800 298 7040 or go to: mccarthyandstone-consultation.co.uk/melksham
