Model railway enthusiasts have been setting up for tomorrow's opening of the annual Trainwest exhibition, which is expected to attract hundreds of people to Melksham this weekend.

Organiser Geoff Endacott and his team have spent this afternoon setting up one of the biggest portable layouts in the country, the extensive Gresley Beat display.

Designed by Cliff Parsons, it depicts King's Cross at the turn of the 1930s and it is so large it has to travel in two big vans and takes a team of nine people at least 10 hours to set up.

It is among a number of layouts awaiting visitors to enjoy.

Trainwest takes place tomorrow and on Sunday at the Christie Miller Sports Centre. Admission costs £8 for adults and £5 for children.

Sunday tickets will cost £5 after 1pm on the Sunday and each adult will be able to bring a child free of charge.

There will also be a free bus running tomorrow from Chippenham railway station which will also call at Melksham station.
