TWO Melksham building companies are going to be putting their tools to one side to go head-to-head in a charity football match.

Both Travis Perkins and Buildbase are hoping they are the building merchant who comes out on top at the game being played at The Conigre on Sunday (April 26) from 2pm.

The companies are hoping to raise over £500 for Macmillan Cancer Support and as well as the match, there will be a raffle, cake sale and face painting for children.

A signed Chelsea football shirt is also going to be auctioned on the day.

The match has been organised by assistant branch manager at Travis Perkins, Robbie Newton, who is hoping there is a big turnout.

He said: “We have recently changed our nominated charity to Macmillan Cancer Support so needed something big to get the ball rolling. We have done matches in the past but felt it needed more spice.

“After discussions with everyone at the branch here in Melksham we thought of asking Buildbase if they were up for the challenge. Luckily Charlie responded to my email with a resounding yes.

“I just hope we get a good crowd and raise lots of money, after that I am desperate for a Travis Perkins victory, I won’t be able to live it down if Buildbase beat us.”

Entry to the match will cost £2. Anyone who can donate extra raffle prizes should contact Mr Newton on 01225 700218 or email robbie.newton@travisperkins.co.uk
