COMEDIAN Andy Parsons will be in Melksham next week and is hoping to bring some laughter to the Assembly Hall stage.

His visit is part of his nationwide tour called ‘Live and Unleashed – But Naturally Cautious’ and will involve delivering sharp wit by ruthlessly analysing his strengths and weaknesses, before finishing the second half by building himself back up with ‘communal spirit’.

Over the last decade Mr Parsons has built up a huge following from his appearances of BBC 2’s topical news quiz show Mock the Week and Live at the Apollo.

This will be his fifth stand-up tour, the four previous being sell-outs. He has also had three best-selling DVD releases which include Britain’s Got Idiots and Gruntled. His contributions as a writer to TV shows have been praised as well.

“I love the buzz of live comedy,” Mr Parsons said. “You don’t have a TV producer or editor. Any given night will never be repeated. The audience will get something unrepeatable. What happens in that theatre stays in that theatre."

He added: “Physically getting to places on the tour can be difficult. You can have enough of scotch eggs and buffet bars and motorway service stations.

"But when you finally get there, it’s great. It’s fantastic that people have come out specifically to see you. You feed off their energy, and they feed off yours.”

Tickets are still on sale for Mr Parson’s performance on May 15 at Melksham Assembly Hall. They cost £15 and can be bought from the venue or Tourist Information Centre. For more information call 01225 709887
