POLICE are investigating a till-dip in which hundreds of pounds were stolen by two men from the Co-op in Blackmore Road, Melksham.

The incident took place on Saturday (May 30) just after 5pm, when the two men went into the store and distracted a female staff member behind the counter, asking to exchange money. When she turned her back one of the men put his hand into the till grabbing the notes inside.

They left the store and another member of staff followed and confronted them, with one of the men handing back over £200, but it is thought the other man could still have had more than £600 on him. The exact amount is not known.

The first man is described as Asian, 5ft8, with short black hair. He was wearing a green top with a white back and number 17 on the chest. He was also wearing blue jeans and dark coloured footwear.

The second man is described as around 5ft6, with black hair. He was wearing blue jeans and a black long sleeved jacket.

Police would like to hear from anybody who was in the area at the time of the incident who may be able to help officers with their enquiries.
