KANE Fulbrook-Smith from Melksham’s Neighbourhood Policing Team is one of four officers in the running to win an award for their work in reducing crime.

The Neighbourhood Policing Awards 2015 are being presented by the Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire and Swindon, Angus Macpherson, in a ceremony at Wiltshire Police headquarters in Devizes at 3pm on Friday.

The four categories are: neighbourhood policing team of the year, which the team for Melksham Rural North are also nominated for, police community support officer of the year, police officer of the year and volunteer of the year.

The entries have been assessed by a panel made up of Chief Constable Pat Geenty, Corporate Director at Wiltshire Council, Dr Carlton Brand, the High Sheriff of Wiltshire, Lady Gooch, Swindon Borough Council Chief Executive, Gavin Jones and Mr Macpherson.

Those nominated have been recognised as reducing crime and anti-social behaviour, protecting the most vulnerable in society among other achievements.

Joining PC Fulbrook-Smith in the police officer of the year category is PC Mark Hough of Trowbridge, PC Tim Bunt of Tidworth and PC Teresa Herbert of Pewsey.

Sue Stoker has also been nominated as volunteer of the year for her role in the neighbourhood watch scheme in Melksham.
