BODY Zorbing, a surf stimulator and limbo challenge were just some of the exciting attractions at the annual Bowerhill Primary School fete on Friday.

This year’s event was beach themed and as well as beach games such as a coconut shy, it had a range of action-packed activities from an inflatable assault course, an inflatable bungee run and go-karts to get the youngsters’ adrenalin running.

There was also a bouncy castle, variety of stalls and ice cream, candyfloss and a BBQ for people to feast on. Pupils did Maypole dancing, gymnastics and group Enigma gave a baton twirling performance.

More than 1,000 people turned up and comedian and panto star Jon Monie had the honours of officially declaring the fete open.

Helen Adams, treasurer of the Parent Teacher Association, said: “It was really buzzing, it was amazing to have so many people there. The weather stayed good for us, which was a bonus. It was a huge success and we had over 1,000 people through the gates.

“We had fantastic attractions, from a surf simulator to Body Zorbing which brought the crowds in and brought a great atmosphere and there were some great stalls for all ages."

Around £4,500 was raised, which will go towards buying shading sails for the playground. In previous years funds have gone towards new books and play area.

Ms Adams added: "We are very grateful for everyone who turned up and all the support from parents and teachers.”
