The grounds at Lacock Abbey will be staying open late tonight for visitors to enjoy picnics and live music.

As well as the relaxed atmosphere on the South Lawn in front of the picturesque National Trust abbey, the Cherry Pickers will play a live music set of famous tunes from the 1950s to today.

Rachael Holtom, visitor experience officer, said: “The evening picnic really is the quintessential English summer event. Friends gather and everybody tucks into their favourite food – it’s simply a great way to enjoy some time together. Summer evenings at Lacock are magical as the abbey really glows in the setting sun.”

This year picnickers can also enjoy a wander around the Travel Photographer of the Year outdoor exhibition in the Tudor Courtyard, featuring beautiful images from around the world.

The picnic evening will run until 9pm with last entry being 7.15pm. Normal admission applies. National Trust members and under 5s are free.
