DETECTIVES are renewing an appeal for information after female bus driver was attacked and robbed by a passenger on a bus in Melksham last Wednesday.

The bus was a Fare Saver X34, which travelled from Frome to Melksham, with the driver stopping in Longford Road, Melksham, at approximately 6.30pm.

She thought all the passengers had left the bus, but was mistaken and was approached by a male who punched her to the face and grabbed a bag containing the takings.

The man ran off behind the bus and out of sight. It is believed that a Vauxhall Corsa had to stop as he ran in front of the vehicle.

He is described as white, aged in his late 20s, 5ft 9ins/5ft 10ins tall and of slim build. He had mousy hair and a spotty complexion. He was wearing a black hoody and grey jogging bottoms.

Detective Constable Kev Golledge said: “It is absolutely imperative that we speak to every single person who was travelling on the bus.

“If you got on the bus at Trowbridge, regardless of where you then got off of the bus, please can you make contact with police immediately. It doesn't matter if you left the bus before where the incident took place in Longford Road, Melksham, we would still like to speak to you.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Golledge at Melksham CID on 101. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously if preferred.
