STONAR Prep School in Atworth marked the beginning of the new academic year with a flourish: a dramatic charity balloon release and a hard-fought tug-of-war o raise funds for school charity The Nestling Trust, which was proposed by a Year 6 pupil whose grandfather is chief architect on the project.

The Nestling Trust is a UK charity set up to give protection and hope of a future for destitute and abused children in Nepal. The Trust will provide accommodation, schooling and support for around 20 children in Nepal who have nowhere to live or learn.

Stonar Prep children made a donation to the Nestling Trust foundation for a fully biodegradable balloon which they tied a tag to with their name and the school address and released together. The fun continued with the inter-house tug of war.

“We were delighted to welcome such a large cohort of new pupils to Stonar Prep School this year. The charity event was a lovely relaxed end to the first week back and it was particularly great to see the new children so well integrated and having fun with existing pupils,” commented the Head of Prep, Mark Brain.
