A FATHER of three was taken to hospital after suffering burns to his face and arms in a barn fire in Broughton Gifford.
Andrew Keen, 52, a contractor and landscape gardener, was taken to Southmead Hospital Bristol by ambulance teams after the fire broke out in Norrington Lane late on Sunday evening.
Seven fire crews were sent to the scene at 6.45pm and had the blaze under control by 8.30pm with relief crews called throughout the night.
The fire engulfed the barn, which housed 500 tons of hay, farm machinery and vehicles as well as a diesel tank.
The blaze is suspected to have begun in a caravan located adjacent to the barn.
Father to three boys Mr Keen, originally from Shurnhold Farm, Melksham, originally bought a 27 acre plot of land 10 years ago but has sold all but one acre where he constructed the barn.
Fire crews that came out included those from Melksham, Corsham, Bath and Trowbridge and by 2.30pm today had almost entirely extinguished the fire and were dampening down fire hotspots in the hay.
