A BIG hearted Hilperton man has raised more than £32,000 for charity since 2005.
Robert Newton, 33, who works as the assistant branch manager for Travis Perkins, in Bowerhill, raised the £32,838,55 through charity runs and events such as the Travis Perkins and Buildbase football match.
Mr Newton said: “I have always tried to do a little bit of running anyway and back in 2005 my manager said that the branch wanted to raise a few bob for charity. I have just gone on since then.
“This year I have loads planned. I am going to be running the London Marathon in April as well as the Tough Mudder in August. We choose a different charity every three years and we are now in our second year of supporting Macmillan.
“I have been working with a personal trainer. He has me on a training plan and now I am up to about seven miles.
“The exercise is working and I am getting a few more miles on the clock each time.
“My girlfriend has got me on a proper diet plan so definitely no more takeaways.
“I am trying to do it every other day and my running pattern now varies from three miles to eight."
