A MAN who is accused of carrying out two serious assaults, three months apart, has been remanded in custody by a judge.

Steven Robins is accused of three assaults in Melksham on Christmas Day last year.

The 29-year-old is then said to have slashed the neck of a drinker in the West End Inn on March 23 and damaged a door at the pub.

No charges were formally put to Robins, of Berryfield Park, Melksham, and he did not enter any pleas during the brief hearing at Swindon crown court on Tuesday.

It is alleged he wounded a man with intent to cause grievous bodily harm on December 25 last year.

He is also charged with common assault on a woman and assaulting a police officer on the same day.

Robins was on bail, with conditions including not going to The Tavern pub, when the second incident allegedly took place.

He is charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in relation to an allegation he slashed the neck of a customer with a glass.

It is said a 21-year-old Melksham man needed 13 stitches in a wound to his neck following an incident at the West End Inn.

Judge Peter Blair QC adjourned the case to April 22 and remanded Robins in custody until then.
