FOLLOWING a successful campaign compiling historic photographs of Melksham, photographer Andy York has donated part of the proceeds to the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
Mr York donated £100 to the air ambulance as a thank you to the people of Melksham for their contributions to ‘Melksham Memories’, a collection of old photographs of the town.
Mr York, who owns York Photography in the Littlebrook Centre, said: “It all came a little bit out of the blue as one of our customers just donated some of their old photographs and we thought we would start the collection.
“We decided on the air ambulance as we had a friend, who had been saved by it when he was in a car accident.
“We now have hundreds of slides with all types of events including the Melksham flood back in the 60s.
“Some of the slides date back to the 1800s but we have found that the most popular ones with customers are those that are in their recent memory like the floods or in the 50s or 60s.”
