AS part of the Melksham Market Place redevelopment the town council has agreed a £12,000 investment for lights to illuminate town hall.
To be situated in the pavement in front of the hall, the lights are not yet purchased but now that town council has agreed a figure it can liaise with Wiltshire Council and could be ready for installation later this year.
Mayor Terri Welch said: “It would be a major enhancement of the hall. It is a listed building but it is in the centre of the town and shouts ‘Melksham’ so we want it to stand out.
“We are very proud of the building and we have looked after it for many years and we are linking this with the Market Place redevelopment.
“The lights would be for the evening and would illuminate the building. It is not a determined price, it was just a guideline for the council to work with.”
