MELKSHAM Oak pupils have raised hundreds of pounds for Harry Kirkman helping him towards his £60,000 total for a life changing operation.

Polaris House pupils raised £317 by selling cakes and throwing a mufti day in which they all had to pay one pound.

Harry Kirkman has cerebral palsy which affects all of his limbs, making it very hard to balance but with the operation he may be able to walk without the aid of crutches.

Head of Polaris House, design and technology teacher, Liana Mason, said: “As a house our students got to decide who they would like to raise money for.

“We had a vote and they all voted for Harry Kirkman. One of the students, Chelsea Norris, is very close to the family.

“I chatted to her and with the house and we decided that he would be our charity and with the operation coming up we thought it would be a nice idea.

“It is really nice to raise money for such a lovely and great little chap and we were just glad we can help.”
